This weekend marked Instagram’s Worldwide InstaMeet 11. To celebrate the occasion, the guys who run my favorite Chicago-themed Instagram community, @Chitecture, organized a pretty epic event to kick off the #WWIM11 weekend. In partnership with Choose Chicago, they got 350 photographers up to 360 Chicago (the observatory at the Hancock) to catch sunrise.
Despite some clouds on the eastern horizon, the sun did pop out in all it’s glory about fifteen minutes after scheduled sunrise. There was a slight haze that hung over the city, but it made for some nice, soft pastel colors. It was great to see a lot of familiar faces and make some new friends, too. The turn out was amazing. Putting faces with names is something I always look forward to. As much as I enjoy interacting through the Instagram app, it’s always great to meet instagrammers in real life.
My favorite shots from yesterday morning are below. To see everyone else’s shots from the meet up, search #360chitecture on Instagram.
